Bishop Involved in bicycle crash has DUI record

The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the driver in a fatal bicycle crash on Roland Ave is a Bishop with the Episcopal church and that she has a previous DUI arrest that resulted in a Probation Before Judgment in 2010. The tragedy occurred on Roland Ave and, allegedly, the driver left the scene of the accident only to return 20 minutes later. It has not being alleged that alcohol was involved in this most recent incident. The windscreen of the vehicle suffered significant damage.

CBS is reporting that cycling advocates have demanded that charges be levied against the Bishop. In its report, CBS cites a witness who described the Bishop as disoriented. Following the incident, the Episcopal Church of Maryland announced that the Bishop, was it second-ranking official, and identified her as the driver in the crash.

The cost of traffic accidents can leave a family scarred for life. It is particularly sad that around this holiday season. Now two young children have lost their father. A wife has lost her husband.
